Wine Maker
Kim Hatch: Winemaker
Kim Hatch moved to the Central Coast in 1978 with his wife, Toni and their 2 sons, Erik and Ian, so that he could attend the school of Architecture & Environmental Design at Cal Poly State University He received his Batchelor of Science degree from Cal Poly in 1989.
He then went to work for a local architectural firm that specializes in winery design. Because of the connections Kim made during the process of designing wineries he was given access to local quality fruit, which helped motivate his desire to make wine.
He applied the Cal Poly philosophy of “Learn by Doing” into his wine making experience. Kim made his first vintage in 1998 with fellow garage wine making enthusiasts.
In his desire to improve the wines he created his following vintages were under the expertise guidance of several local wine makers. During this time he developed his skills, palette, and a passion for wine making.
